On the Curing Rack: SUGAR PLUM FAIRY Handmade Soap

For quite some time now, I've struggled with finding a great stable purple colorant for my soaps.  Recently,  I found out about Nurture Soap Supplies through a Soaping 101 video.  The Rainbow Micas were also what I used to make the Rainbow Cake soap.

Now, while I can't say that this is 100% my dream purple, it is very close.  It was nice not to have to blend any additional colors to create the purple.

I can't recall if I've mentioned this in a past post, but the 24K Gold Mica from TKB is the best gold mica that I've used for soap-making and believe me when I tell you, I've tried many!  The color is deeper and the sparkle from the mica really comes through in CP soap.

Overall, I have to say that I'm very pleased with the results.  There are some micas from the Conservatorie's Happy Hour Collection that I still want to try.  I'll be sure to share the results once I do :0)

  1. Your colors are always so vibrant! I've seen that collection from the conservatorie and I plan on purchasing that along with the rainbow micas. There are just so many suppliers for colorants, it's hard for me to choose. I know that is my biggest personal issue with my soaps...the darn colors...

    1. Well, I had a looong color journey to get to this point, lol. But I'll tell you, all colors are not created equal. I've tried a lot. Oxides of course are always going to be stable for you. Clays are pretty reliable too. Bramble Berry has some pretty reliable neons and I love the Merlot Sparkle it's pretty comparable to the Rainbow red. TKB has nice neons, but they can bleed (especially the purple!) I'll just stick to the gold from them. NSS will probably be it for me. I just want the purple & blue from the Conservatorie.

  2. Stunning, Kia! That's a gorgeous purple, and I like the gold mica, too. Your swirls are beautiful!

  3. Like Markeeta, I struggle with colors. I just ordered a bunch of colors from TKB. Gosh, I hope they don't bleed! Thank you for letting us know about NSS. I will check them out. I've always admired your creations, and your Sugar Plum Fairy is no different. :-)

    1. Thanks Silvia. I haven't had any problems with TKB's Blue, Green or Neon Pink. Purple, Raspberry (can't remember the exact name) Orange and Yellow will all fade if you don't use a lot. Purple will definitely bleed into white.
